How to boost immunity

Updated: Apr 25, 2020

Did you know that 80% of your immune system are actually in your gut?

Knowing that, the first line of defense should be your daily diet.

Avoid mucus forming and inflammatory food such as: -dairy -processed food -gluten -soy and GMO products - refined sugar and syrups

What should we eat: alkaline forming food, anti-inflammatory and immune boosting diet

-fruit and vegetables in all colours of the rainbow, which are high in Antioxidants -Mushrooms. From Portobelo to Reishi, they all have the ability to mark invaders in our body. - buy fresh or frozen products over canned ones -add garlic and onions to each meal

- go green: make your own green juice rule of thumb : 3 parts green veggies such as celery, cucumber, cabbage 1 part fruit eat collard greens and cruciferous veggies such as asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower

- If you don’t feel like eating the whole fruit, make your own juice or smoothie for example with: citrus fruits, papaya, banana, berries ideally (wild) blueberries

-Eat fruit separately to not put a strain on your digestive system

-Add fresh herbs to your meal such as Basil and Thyme, Oregano oil is one of most potent oils in nature

If you feel overwhelmed with load of green or not a fan of it at all here are a few available supplements: - Vitamin C tablets

-Vitamin D3 with B -complex -Probiotics -Antioxidants - drink more water and cut down on soda and juice consumption. Great way are iced herbal teas such as Hibiscus or Reishi mushroom or infused water (add cucumber, ginger or melon )

If you are taking medication and prescribed drugs please double check with your doctor before taking any supplements.

Nature´s little helpers: -Sunshine, there is nothing better to boost our immune system than fresh air, a bit of morning sun and a walk or swim at the ocean. For those that are currently already in home quarantine use Vitamin D3 supplements.

-Bee products besides royal jelly, honey and bee pollen the most outstanding bee product is Propolis, natural antifungal and antiviral components.

-Aloe Vera a plant no stranger to Panama. Its synergy of more than 200 ingredients makes it a real plant powerhouse. Important to only consume the pure inner leaf gel of a mature plant.

- sleep well and rest when needed.
